Strike Reminders
We are on strike on Monday, November 6th  between midnight and noon. We will picket in front of the College, with members of the other two unions, from 7am to 12 noon. We have arranged 2 shifts of three hours for the picket: 7 to 10 and 9 to 12. Most of you have selected your shift using the form we provided, thank you. If you still need to let us know your preference, please do so by email vcta@vaniercollege.qc.ca

We will send the lists of picket captains by tomorrow, Friday.

As usual, we have rented two rooms at the church next door. When you arrive, you will find your picket captain in front of the church or by the Saint-Laurent room. Make sure you register with them as soon as you arrive. And don’t forget to sign off before leaving at the end of your shift.

The College parking is available for us.

Noise makers, flags and other items will be available at the picket. Wear your t-shirts and caps and buttons. The weather calls for a cold, but nice day. But always check the forecast in the morning, and dress accordingly.

The College has agreed to allow some time for teachers and students to reach their room after the lifting of the picket at noon. So classes will resume at 12h30.

We will need help making posters for the picket on Friday. If you are free, join us in C-101.

See you on the picket line!

RREGOP Online Training
On November 14th , the Fneeq is offering a short 2-hour training course on retirement and the provisions of the RREGOP to interested members. This training aims to meet the needs of some people who have not been able to join local trainings or who wish to nourish their reflection on their near future. It is also intended for all persons who wish to take advantage of certain provisions of the RREGOP, in particular buybacks.

This multi-union training will take place on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Zoom.

If you are interested in attending this training session, please let us know by November 7th  via email to vcta@vaniercollege.qc.ca so that we can send your name to the organizers.

Changes to Insurance
You can make changes to your insurance coverage during the month of November. Contact HR directly. Attached are the English and French versions of the Info letter regarding changes to our insurance plans with Beneva. The deadline to let Human Resources know that wish to make changes to your insurance coverage is November 30, 2023.

Poppy Campaign
The white poppy campaign was started to encourage Canadians to broaden their Remembrance Day focus to include the civilians who now make up 90% of conflict victims; to challenge the beliefs, values and institutions that make war seem inevitable; and to urge our government to promote and fund effective non-military means of dispute resolution.

On September 21, 2023 – International Day of Peace – the Échec à la guerre Collective launched its annual white poppy campaign. This 13th  campaign will take place under the theme “No one can win. Russia, Ukraine, NATO: NEGOTIATE!”.

You can also come to the VCTA office to get a card that explains the campaign and to pick up a white poppy at the same time. Red poppies, as usual, should be available throughout the college – for example, in the printshop.
