45 cégeps, 45 actions campaign. On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, we were joined by our comrades from Cégep Saint-Laurent for a photo op in support of our negos. Noteworthy, we got some honks from cars driving by. Memories of actions past swelled for a fleeting moment.
And we returned the favour. Solidarity!
This year for International Women’s Day, we’re spotlighting women’s voices and experiences. Activité virtuelle ayant comme invitée principale, Annick Charette, plaignante dans le procès de Gilbert Rozon. Aussi, il y aura une conférence virtuelle le 15 mars de 18 h à 20 h. Cette activité vise notamment à aborder la difficulté pour les victimes d’agressions de porter plainte devant la justice, de sensibiliser sur les inconduites, le harcèlement et les agressions sexuelles au travail et de provoquer un examen de conscience dans les milieux de travail, notamment quant au rôle des témoins pour que cessent les comportements de harcèlement. Full workload for non-permanent teachersNow that student numbers have been validated, we would like to remind non-permanent teachers that the Collective Agreement obliges the College to offer you a full teaching load before they can offer work to people below you on your discipline’s seniority list. If you are not the last person on the list, and you were not offered a full workload, please contact us.
Also note that at the last meeting of CRT, labour relations committee, the College confirmed that they would use the special COVID-19 resources to top up workloads below 80 CI due to reduced class sizes. The adjustments may not have been implemented right away, but we encourage you to keep an eye on this, and make sure the College corrects your workload before the end of the academic year.
Thinking of easing into retirement? We have 2 options:A progressive retirement allows for a 40–80% workload for the year. The end date, at which time you have to retire, has to be within the next 5 years. You continue your full contributions to RREGOP (our pension plan) and the College matches them. It is even possible to maintain full contribution to the Quebec Pension Plan. Plus, you would be allowed to use your own workers’ RRSP funds (from La Capitale or FTQ) to top up your salary. This is comparable to a PVRTT leave (voluntary workload reduction) but these must be requested yearly, and you cannot use RRSP workers’ funds to top up.
A gradual retirement is possible wherein you can replace lost salary by a partial payout from RREGOP. There are no restrictions as to workload or number of years – you just need to reach an agreement with the College. You have to be over 65 years of age. In this case, you would no longer contribute to RREGOP, and any additional years would not count towards pension calculations. The total you receive from salary + pension cannot exceed that you would have gotten with a full salary.
