News Bulletin #7-2020/2021, January 22, 2020

Taxes and Forms for Working from Home
As mentioned in a previous bulletin, both federal and provincial governments have created simplified forms to claim expenses related to confinement in our tax returns this year. At the last meeting of CRT, the College also announced that it will make available tools to help employees determine which form, the regular one or the simplified version, provides the most benefits in each individual’s case. We were also promised documentation and clear instructions.

Travel Warning
The VCTA strongly discourages all teachers from travelling at the moment. If you do travel, keep in mind that it may not be possible for you to fulfill your obligations to the College from abroad if you face complications returning to Canada. It is also important to understand that the legal responsibility is not clear in these situations, and we cannot guarantee your defense if something happens while travelling or upon your return.

Negotiations and Mobilization
Negotiations were put on pause for the holiday season. Everyone is coming out of this break re-energized. Next week, Thursday and Friday, January 28 and 29, there will be joint proceedings of the four federations of the CSN (FSSS, FP, FEESP and FNEEQ) to review the situation on negotiations and on the exercise of pressure tactics. On February 15th, there will be a meeting of the Comité Régional de Mobilisation, which involves all CSN unions of the public sector of the Greater Montreal area, to further plan the way forward in mobilization and pressure tactics. Your executive will participate in both meetings, and we will continue to keep you informed.
