Salary changes for ranking increase in April

Our pay will be changing as of April 2019, as per Collective Agreement Articles 6-4.07 and APPENDIX VI-7 Tables 1 and 2.  As you may recall, the nego team in 2015 succeeded in correcting our ranking by getting us recognized at the Ranking Level of 23, for which we had been fighting for over 20 years.  It comes into effect April 2nd 2019.

The CSN has prepared a simulator for the Ranking change (the simulator is only available in French) – control click on the following:  https://secteurpublic.quebec/relativite/

Put in CEGEPS then, for day teachers – Enseignant à l’enseignement régulier (FNEEQ) and for Cont Ed teachers – Enseignant à la formation continue (FNEEQ)
Then put in your present pay level.

For more information on Salary Relativity please see the link below, which is available in both French and English:  https://fneeq.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/Info-Rangement-23_eng.pdf

Salary changes: lump sum payment
Differently, and in lieu of an actual pay raise, day teachers are entitled to a lump sum payment of $292.21 per paid FTE for the coming year. Hourly-paid teachers are entitled to an additional remuneration of $0.56 per paid hour from April 1st 2019 to March 31st 2020. (We have not been informed when exactly this will be and will inform you whenever we find out).

Global strike against climate change: Friday, March 15
There is a global action led by students to signal to our governments that they need to take the climate crisis seriously by taking the necessary measures to lessen the predicted rise in temperatures to meet the Paris Agreement target of 1.5 Celsius or below. A young 16-year-old Swedish student, Greta Thunberg,  was the one to make this call to action in the form of student strikes:

Acting in solidarity with students across the planet and our own VSCA, we encourage you to inform your students and take place in the march yourselves!

  • Members of the Vanier community will leave campus at 12:00 (meeting point: front doors 821 Ste Croix), take the subway down to Place Des Arts, and leave the 80 N bus stop at 12:45 to be at the George Etienne Cartier monument on Mount Royal for 1:00.
  • Let us know if you will be joining us.

Cont Ed sick days
Some good news!  There have been recent changes in the Normes du travail that that give workers with three months of continuous service the right to two paid sick days per year. We are waiting for more information from FNEEQ as to the implications this will have for hourly-paid teachers in Cont Ed, and we will be sending that information as soon as we have it.
